The new smart locking hardware has a sophisticated Bluetooth enabled key which links to a mobile application - this will only allow access to a site that is pre-approved for a designated day and time.
We are currently trialling phase one with the hardware and mobile application, bringing control at site level and an active monitoring system.
The trial is presently proving successful at over 100 selected sites and, as a result, new enhancements to the design of the mobile application are underway.
The app is being equipped with a range of features such as an in-built panic button. The smart locks also give us more control compared to those sites that have a traditional lock and key, which are prone to break-ins.
Cornerstone is leading the way with this automated sharper solution.
It will:
- Reduce battery theft by £1M
- Provide greater control over site access
- Reduce the cost of multiple key issues
These smart locks have the potential to inspire transformation across our industry.
This is one of our strategic initiatives for Cornerstone in being the UK’s leading mobile infrastructure services company. Having proven the success of the smart locks we plan to link the locks to a pre-visit request for site access and provide site information directly to the end-user. The ambition is to make this automated and eventually link to a ticketing system and mobile application for site providers.
