We feel it’s important to communicate with everyone on what we are doing and to reach out to our landlord community in every way we can through attending relevant industry events.
In June this year, we attended the Connected Britain conference in London.
The event focused on the future of connectivity in the UK, supported by industry speakers. Cornerstone’s General Counsel and Director of Property and Estates, Belinda Fawcett, spoke on a panel along with Vodafone and others on addressing the challenge of urban ‘not spots.’
This discussion talked about overcoming the barriers to delivering connectivity in densely populated areas. Belinda also caught up with Total Telecom who are the Connected Britain organisers, delivering editorial content and events to facilitate discussion on industry issues. Belinda gave an overview of why deploying mobile infrastructure faster, will help deliver 5G in the UK.

As well as Connected Britain in June, we were also invited to a podcast that took place at The London Real Estate Forum. The podcast topic focused on “Can real estate and telecoms deliver 5G?” The discussion raised the updated Electronic Communications Code legislation and how it is affecting the way we acquire and maintain sites for mobile infrastructure.
The podcast highlighted that there is still some ambiguity about the new Code amongst the landlord agents. Slowly but surely though, there is progress being made in agreeing on Code deals which are benefitting our aim to improve mobile connectivity for the UK.
It’s true to say your support plays a big part in the success of this.
Additionally, as part of our events and shared knowledge approach, we are pleased to have delivered our second in the series of Continued Professional Development Seminars on “The Valuation Principles of the Electronic Communications Code”. The event which took place in Edinburgh in June, brought together landlord agents and legal representatives to learn about the Code.
More recently, Cornerstone was represented at the British Property Federation’s Breakfast Seminar in September. Belinda Fawcett took part in a panel discussion on “Overcoming the practical barriers to connectivity,” where property owners recognised that working together with telecom operators will help achieve the roll out of future communications and technology.
