Welcome to our latest issue of Connected.

First, let me start by saying thank you all very much for your support during the current COVID-19 pandemic. With your help, Cornerstone has continued to keep the UK connected in these extremely challenging times.

Despite the lockdown, digital connectivity has helped many of us to carry on with certain activities. It has enabled us to access the emergency services 24/7, support the NHS and other key workers, and virtually socialise with our family and friends. It’s also enabled us to work from home where possible, have access to the latest news or entertainment and much more. If we didn’t realise it before, we certainly have a higher appreciation of how connectivity plays an integral part in our lives.

We continually strive to keep you updated with what is going on around the world of connectivity and telecoms, as well as Cornerstone. In this issue of Connected, you will discover how Cornerstone, as telecom industry key workers, have continued to carry out site works through these unprecedented times, working to the Government’s guidance. 

It has been critical for us to access sites to rectify any service-related faults and to continue scheduled capacity upgrades to meet demand on the networks. Your co-operation during this time has enabled us to ensure we can upgrade and maintain the nation’s critical infrastructure. Our engineers are fully briefed on the new health and safety requirements for COVID-19. We are regularly updating them with advice and processes to ensure we are practising social distancing while visiting sites.

I am also delighted to share with you the new Code hub that we have launched on our Cornerstone website. As you may know, the Electronic Communications Code (ECC) legislation is now two and a half years on from when it was last reformed. In support of the Government’s ambition for the UK to have world-class mobile connectivity, we at Cornerstone, have been working with landlords and the property and legal industry to educate and implement this effectively. We appreciate the revised Code legislation may be causing some landlords to question the changes. However, our aim is to continue to work with you to ensure that we use the Code to improve our digital services across the UK.

I am pleased to also bring you news that Cornerstone has successfully obtained recertification from the British Standards Institute for ISO 27001 - Information Security Management System (ISMS). BSI ISO:27001 is an essential accreditation for us all, as it demonstrates our data is kept secure at all times. Since our last certification three years ago, we are proactively adhering to the highest standards and will continue to maintain this going forward.

On a final note, on behalf of Cornerstone, I want to reiterate our highest appreciation to our landlord community for your valued support, especially during the coronavirus crisis, and we look forward to continuing our work together, keeping the UK connected.
