During the improvement work, the network poles and cabinets were upgraded by Cornerstone. To reflect the colours of the play equipment, the new poles, which provide 2G, 3G and 4G coverage for residents and businesses in the area, were painted in red and blue candy stripes rather than the traditional matt olive colour.
The cabinets were also moved to provide more space for the play equipment.
To celebrate the playground’s opening by the Mayor of Waltham Forest, Councillor Chris Robbins CBE, the Council invited children from a local school who happily enjoyed the new look and feel of the colourful playground, while planting summer bulbs.
Waltham Forest Council’s Cabinet Member for Transformation and Commercial Operations, Councillor Liaquat Ali MBE JP, said: “This is the first time our regeneration team has worked with telecom companies to provide masts which provide good connectivity for local residents and businesses while at the same time adding a new, colourful dimension to an area where children can play and residents relax. The end result is impressive, and we look forward to developing similar partnerships elsewhere in the borough.”
