Colchester Institute’s second largest campus in Braintree had been hosting Cornerstone’s mobile equipment on their college rooftop to allow the local community to benefit from digital connectivity.
However, the college needed Cornerstone to find another location for the mobile infrastructure. Therefore, we worked with our customers and partners to facilitate the move and acquire a new site.
In the meantime, to ensure mobile services were not impacted while the permanent site was being acquired and built, the Braintree campus agreed to host our telecommunications mast temporarily in a different area within their grounds. This enables locals to continue accessing mobile coverage and connectivity while a permanent site is built and completed.
As part of the move, Cornerstone welcomed the opportunity to support a new initiative put forward by the college campus to build a greenhouse for the students, where teaching and learning activities can take place for educational courses. Cornerstone co-funded this with Wireless Infrastructure Group, who acquired, designed and built a new infrastructure solution to accommodate the Cornerstone customers on the permanent site.
Cornerstone was invited to the opening ceremony of the Greenhouse that took place on the Braintree campus in Essex. Officially launched by the Chairman of Colchester Institute, Kevin Prince, the Greenhouse is now open and being used as an outdoor learning space.
“The Greenhouse complements the excellent facilities we already have on this site to support our students. With the environment and sustainability firmly on everyone’s mind at present, our students will be able to get closer to nature, and this will also support their course work feeding into their final qualification.”
